UNAPOLOGETICALLY SOFT

The Unapologetically Soft project celebrates the strength of vulnerability and gentleness in a world that often demands toughness and a thick skin. The work invites us to consider tenderness and openness as forms of resilience and to question patriarchal norms.

The central element is a hand-tufted tapestry with the words ‘Unapologetically Soft,’ accompanied by a symbolic rabbit, a strong but often underestimated animal that embodies the values of the work. In front of the tapestry is a landscape of soft, handmade cushions that invites visitors to take a seat and physically experience the space.

A video complements the installation, showing a poetic text that expresses a deep-rooted longing for a gentler world. It speaks of the importance of treating each other with tenderness, opening up and allowing emotional connection without apology.

As an interactive element, the project invites visitors to write thank-you cards. These cards offer the opportunity to thank people who have inspired them to allow gentleness and vulnerability. They symbolise an act of appreciation and encourage the active integration of the concept of gentleness into social interactions.
Unapologetically Soft

I need the world to be soft,
I need the world to whisper,
like words barely touching lips,
gentle, almost unspoken
but deeply felt.

I need the sky to lower its shoulders,
let the stars fall closer,
melting into my skin,
lighting up my heart,
brave enough to stay open.

Softness is giving each other space,
but making the space between our hands,
feel like velvet,
soft and gentle.

It’s being touched with care,
by hands and words,
felt more than spoken.

I know this softness is real,
even if the world feels cruel,
because I exist— and I am full of it, carrying it in every breath,
in every gentle choice I make.

I need the world to be soft without excuses,
I need to act soft, without a doubt.
I need us to be unapologetically soft.
